Single stained glass cicada wing created using transparent very lightly textured pale purple stained glass. I was inspired to make this piece when I found part of a cicada in my garden.
This suncatcher measures 8 1/4 inches long by just over 2 1/2 inches wide at the widest point, nearly 21 cm by 6.5 cm.
All of the glass pieces have been hand cut using delicately textured glass in a light sea foam green shade. Assembled in the Tiffany method using copper foil and solder, the entire wing has then been wrapped with a type of lead channel framing for strength. A single loop has been attached to the top of the wing and a small amount of chain will be included for hanging this piece.
